Browse a Local Cube with the MDX Sample ApplicationYou can browse a local cube by using the Sample MDX Application that is installed when you install Analysis Services in SQL Server 2000. You can examine the measures, dimensions, levels, members, and member properties of the local cube in the meta data panel. You can write MDX queries to return a cellset from the local cube. (All this is changed in SQL Server 2005. More on that later.) When you open the Sample MDX Application, the Connect dialog opens, which is used to connect to an Analysis Server. Instead of entering the name of an Analysis Server in the Server textbox, you can enter the full path and name of a local cube. You will be able to browse the local cube in the same way you would browse a server cube.
Whenever you want to switch to a different local cube, click the Disconnect/Connect toolbar button twice (the left-most button on the toolbar). Enter the name of the local cube and you're ready to go.
