Requirements

We offer free demos of CubeSlice, both the Creator and Viewer. You can use all the features of these products free for 30 days.

Before downloading, please note system requirements for using our software:

CubeSlice works together with the following Microsoft software:

  • Analysis Services from Microsoft SQL Server
  • The Microsoft Office Web Components
  • Microsoft Excel
  • The Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Analysis Services
  • Microsoft Access

The CubeSlice Creator can only create local cube files from Analysis Services in Microsoft SQL Server. The following versions are supported:

  • SQL Server 2000
  • SQL Server 2005
  • SQL Server 2008

The CubeSlice Creator uses the Microsoft Office Web Components to view local cubes as they are created. You can design and create local cube files even though you don't have the Microsoft Office Web Components installed on your computer.

The CubeSlice Viewer cannot be used unless the Microsoft Office Web Components are installed on your computer.

The CubeSlice Creator and the CubeSlice Viewer can use the following versions of the Microsoft Office Web Components:

  • The Microsoft Office XP Web Components
  • The Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components
  • The Office 2003 Web Components for Microsoft Office 2007 (available for users of Office 2007 as a free download from Microsoft)
The CubeSlice Creator and the CubeSlice Viewer can both export views to Microsoft Excel. Excel is also required for printing from CubeSlice views. The following versions of Microsoft Excel are supported:
  • Microsoft Excel XP
  • Microsoft Excel 2003
  • Microsoft Excel 2007 (though local cubes created from Analysis Services in SQL Server 2000 cannot be used in a pivot table export to Excel 2007)
The CubeSlice Creator can create CubeSlice Share files that open with Microsoft Excel 2007. This feature does not work with earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.

The proper version of the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for Analysis Services must be installed to create and use local cube files. Specifically, the February 2007 version of the Provider must be used in order to view local cubes created from Analysis Services with SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2. This Provider is available as a free download from Microsoft.

Either Microsoft Access or Microsoft SQL Server can be used for the CubeSlice Creator's repository database. If you use Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access is not needed to use CubeSlice.
