Initially, I tried creating local cubes using the standard functionality within SQL server 2005 and ran into all sorts of problems of varying complexity. CubeSlice9 was the solution which provided me with the ability to effortlessly create offline local cube files for our users, and for that I am very thankful....
The installation went through superbly with no glitches and within 30 minutes I had deployed and created the first offline cube, using the configuration file we created a few months ago when we evaluated CubeSlice9. The figures balanced back to the raw OLAP figures, which was exactly what we expected. Overall, CubeSlice9 is looking good and I am sure the users will appreciate the ability to analyze sections of the cube when they are away from the office.
